Apple iPhone 15 Pro is an amazing smartphone that is beautiful to look at. The iPhone is savvy & graceful and has an indomitable flair to it. It has the typical rectangular shape of an iPhone with rounded corners, making it easier to grip or handle. The front camera is situated at the top-middle portion of the front screen and tries to take as little space as possible with a thin cylindrical outline. The back cameras are epic and far more bulkier-looking. The three back cameras are settled in a square shape at the left-most corner at the top of the back of the phone. The flash and the LiDAR scanner are located in this square along with the back cameras.

The iPhone 15 Pro is smaller than the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Plus models but has almost similar dimensions to the iPhone 15. Although the iPhone 15 Pro is considerably heavier than the iPhone 15, it does not feel too bulky or dense to hold. However, iPhone 15 Pro is less heavy compared to other iPhone 15 models. This iPhone is easy to carry along or do work on the go. The total screen size has remained more or less the same while the bezel has gotten even thinner and the screen-to-body ratio has increased. Taking selfies or recording long videos by hand does not make the user feel exhausted at all.

The Apple iPhone 15 Pro is smaller than the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Plus and almost comparable to the iPhone 15. The iPhone 15 Pro has a height of 146. 6 mm or 5.77 inches, a width of 70.6 mm or 2.78 inches, and a thickness of 8.3 mm or 0.33 inches. iPhone 15 Pro has the same thickness as the iPhone 15 Pro Max but is thicker than the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro falls in-between in terms of weight among the iPhone 15 variants. While it is heavier than the iPhone 15, it is lighter than the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Plus. The iPhone 15 Pro weighs 6.6 Ounce or 187 grams. While, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have aluminum frames, iPhone 15 Pro (just like iPhone 15 Pro Max) has a grade 5 titanium frame. Titanium grade 5 is a titanium alloy that has 90% titanium, 4%-5% vanadium, 5%-6% aluminum, and 0.3%-0.5% iron. This titanium alloy has high tensile strength, low density, and high corrosion resistance. Hence, it is lightweight but provides good drop protection.

The front of the iPhone 15 Pro is made of ceramic shield glass from Corning. The backside also has a similar glass shield with a matted design. Corning makes these ceramic glasses exclusively for Apple and according to Apple, they are the toughest protective glasses used on any smartphone. These ceramic glass shields use two techniques to achieve toughness. The glass is infused with ceramic nano-crystals in high temperatures to give the hybrid material more strength compared to normal glass shields. The use of specific temperatures to induce a specific crystalline process makes sure that the ceramic-glass shield is transparent enough for the correct visibility.

Apart from ceramic infusion, ceramic shield glass also goes through another strength-enhancing technique called dual-ion exchange which chemically strengthens the ceramic glass. In this process, the ceramic glass is doused in the discharged ions. After that, the ceramic glass is doused in another round of discharged ions however, the quantity of ions is less the second time. This process strengthens the ceramic glass while retaining its transparency and visibility. It makes the ceramic glass more scratch-resistant and safe from accidental falls or drops.

The iPhone 15 Pro is powered by an A17 Pro Chip. The chip is designed by Apple and manufactured by TSMC Ltd. A17 is a 64-bit SoC (System on a Chip) that follows RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computers) ISA (Instruction Set Architecture), developed by ARM Ltd. RISC uses reduced and simplifying instruction architecture to execute a function. With curtailed instruction, there is a need to write more codes although the time for the execution of the instructions decreases, giving us faster CPUs that produce less heat and conserve battery life. On the other hand, the SoC or System on a Chip is an integrated Chip that includes CPU, RAM, GPU, memory cells & interfaces, transistors, etc, making the device more compact.

The A17 Pro is a 6-core CPU that has 2 high-performance cores with a maximum clock speed of 3.78 GHz. It also has 4 efficient cores that have a maximum clock speed of 2.11GHz. A17 Pro’s design improves its performance and speed while reducing heat generation and increasing battery life. A17 Pro contains 19 Billion transistors. The number of transistors is 3 Billion more than the previous A16 chips and 4 Billion more than the A15 chips.

A17 Pro also comes with a 6-core integrated GPU. It uses 8 GB LPDDR5 synchronous dynamic random access memory which increases energy efficiency, reduces heat generation, and improves overall performance. The GPU can achieve a maximum clock speed of 2.11 GHz and it is equipped with 3 nano-meter transistors which makes the design of the chip compact and efficient. Along with a CPU and GPU, the A16 BIonic chip also comes with a 16-core AI neural engine that can perform 35 TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second).

Along with the entire CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine setup, comes Apple’s iOS 17 operating system which is the successor of the iOS 15. iOS 17 allows for better integration of the Apps. It also gives users better accessibility, greater customization, and smoother transition. It provides better moveability and comfort to visually impaired persons. With iOS 17, iPhone 15 Pro users can do several activities such as manipulating their text messages, receiving and sending messages in different languages, visually beautifying their screen and phone, organizing mobile connectivity, and many more. iOS 17 can be upgraded to iOS 18.

The whole setup of CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, and iOS 17, provides faster execution of various tasks, including heavy-duty graphics works. The phone rarely hangs and or shows any glitches. Performing office tasks are smooth even with multi-tasking while watching HD videos and playing heavy-duty games are a breeze. It provides better performance than its peers and predecessors. Although it faces tough competition from other smartphones (Especially from Samsung), it is a worthy smartphone with some amazing hardware and software features.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro - Cameras

Apple iPhone 15 Pro has three back cameras that are huddled in a square-shaped space in the upper-left corner of the backside of the phone. The square-shaped space also houses the LiDAR scanner and the flash. The main camera of the iPhone 15 Pro is a 48 MP wide camera. It has a focal length of 24 mm that is at the periphery of the wide-angle lens and a f/1.78 aperture. Hence, the camera allows more light to enter, has a shallow depth and wide-angle view, and has a fast shutter speed.

The camera is good for taking wide-angle images. Those images will have differences in depth according to the distance of the object. It also has a dual-pixel phase-detection-auto-focus (PDAF) and sensor-shift optical image stabilizer. These technologies allow for stable focused images even in a dynamic and chaotic environment. The 2nd camera is a 12 MP ultra-wide camera with a 13 mm focal length and a 120o wide-angle view. It has a f/2.2 aperture and a 1/2.55″ image sensor. With these settings, this camera has a wider depth of field, less light, and a relatively slow shutter speed. Hence, the images taken by this camera have an extensive & broad view and a shallow distance.

The third camera in iPhone 15 Pro is also a 12 MP camera but it is a telephoto lens with a 3X zoom. It has an f/2.8 aperture, a 77 mm focal length, and a 1/3.5-inch image sensor. It has a comparatively narrow opening and slower shutter rate and, due to that, less light comes inside the camera. With these settings, this camera can take a wider depth of field and can focus on a particular object while the surrounding things will appear blurred. It is good for focusing on a subject.

The back cameras can record 4K videos for up to 60 FPS, 1080P for up to 60 FPS, and 720P for 30 FPS. They can record slow-motion videos in 120 FPS and 240 FPS. The back cameras can also record in cinematic mode for up to 4K in 30 FPS, although, cinematic mode may not be suitable for every environment. In some cases, especially in very bright environments, it can mess up the hue, contrast, and brightness of the videos.

The selfie/front camera of the iPhone 15 Pro is a 12 MP telephoto camera with 2X zoom, a 48 mm focal length, f/1.78 aperture, and a 1/3.6-inch image sensor. As the selfie camera is equipped with a phase-detection-auto-focus (PDAF) and optical image stabilizer, taking selfies in a dynamic environment becomes an easy task. The aperture size of f/1.78 allows for more light to enter the camera while the 48 mm focal length with 2X zoom allows for a close-up shot. The front camera is also equipped with Face ID features that run on the TrueDepth camera system.

The front camera can record videos at 4K with up to 60 FPS, 1080P with up to 60 FPS, and 720P with up to 30 FPS. It allows for cinematic recording at 4K with 30 FPS and slow-motion recording at 1080P with 120 FPS. Overall, the camera collection is amazing and allows for variety and variation in images and videos. The wide-angle and ultra-wide images are quite good and can capture a broad and elaborate scene.
